"The Independent" declare : Donald Trump and Sean Spicer tweeted about jobs report too early according to federal rules

President Trump and his press secretary seem to have violated a federal rule by posting too quickly on Twitter. "I apologise, we were a little excited to see so many fellow Americans back to work," Mr Spicer said. It was also put in place to avoid any influence on "financial and commodity markets."During his daily press briefing, Mr Spicer explained, "I understand the rule...but every reporter in this room" tweeted and wrote the story this morning. The Department of Labour announced that the US gained 235,000 jobs in the last month and Mr Trump retweeted The Drudge Report's tweet with a link to a piece about the numbers just 11 minutes after the numbers were made public. GREAT AGAIN: +235,000 https://t.co/GkockGNdtC — DRUDGE REPORT (@DRUDGE_REPORT) March 10, 2017White House press secretary Sean Spicer sent a tweet out a mere 22 minutes after the data was made public at 8:30 am, saying it was "great news for American workers."Great news for American workers: economy added 235,000 new jobs, unemployment rate drops to 4.7% in first report for @POTUS Trump — Sean Spicer (@PressSec) March 10, 2017A federal rule issued in 1985 states that "the executive branch shall not facebook/" target="_blank">comment publicly on the data [released by federal agencies] until at least one hour after the official release."The White House receives jobs data ahead of the public but the rule was meant to separate the release of data from political influence and "their interpretation by policy officials," as the rule states.

as mentioned in Because this was the first jobs report covering President Donald Trump's term in office, some conservatives apparently felt compelled to celebrate. Here's a chart of monthly jobs growth dating back to the Great Recession, for reference. In January, the U.S. added 238,000 jobs; in September it tacked on 249,000. Trump's election might be making Wall Street investors and small businesses more optimistic or whatever, but there is no sign that has translated into jobs. This month's result fell right within the range we've seen for the past several years.

Donald Trump did not make the jobs report great again.

Donald Trump now a believer in government jobs report

President Trump, who as a candidate often criticized the government's jobs' reports during the Obama administration as "phony," became a believer on Friday. Mr. Spicer said Mr. Trump's actions clearly are having an impact with employers. "They may have been phony in the past, but it's very real now," Mr. Trump told his spokesman. After the New Hampshire Republican primary last year, Mr. Trump said, "Don't believe those phony numbers when you hear 4.9 and 5 percent unemployment. A grinning White House press secretary Sean Spicer said he specifically asked the president Friday morning if he believed the new jobs report.
