Following the reports, Trump Jr. acknowledged the contact in a tweet detailing one exchange with the radical transparency organization. That back-and-forth — or at least a portion of it — was released in a tweet by Trump Jr. on Monday. The messages between WikiLeaks and the Trump campaign come months after revelations that Trump Jr. exchanged emails with Kremlin-linked lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya and met with her in Trump Tower seeking "dirt" on Clinton.

The next morning, about 12 hours later, Trump Jr. responded to WikiLeaks. It's not clear what investigators will make of the correspondence, which represents a small portion of the thousands of documents Donald Trump Jr.'s lawyer says he turned over to them. Though Trump Jr. mostly ignored the frequent messages from WikiLeaks, he at times appears to have acted on its requests. #WikiLeaks." WikiLeaks didn't respond to that message, but on October 12, 2016, the account again messaged Trump Jr. "Hey Donald, great to see you and your dad talking about our publications," WikiLeaks wrote. U.S. intelligence officials reported in January that they've assessed with "high confidence" that WikiLeaks worked with Russian military intelligence to release stolen emails from the Democratic National Convention in July 2016. WikiLeaks, according to the Atlantic's report, continued to contact Donald Trump Jr. months after his father, Donald Trump, entered the White House and while multiple investigations into the Trump campaign's possible collusion with Russian agents were well under way.
