Donald Trump Has Already Committed a Crime—of Acting and Looking Guilty

as mentioned in I keep hearing Trump surrogates make the factually correct point that there's no evidence Donald Trump colluded with Russia to influence the presidential election. But let's return to the entirely plausible possibility (maybe even likelihood) that Donald Trump is completely innocent of the fundamental charge of collusion. If that happens, at least part of the blame should go to Trump, who has committed the unpardonable sin of looking guilty. The most famous example I can think of probably has to do with Saddam Hussein and the missing weapons of mass destruction. One year after his election, I'm not sure Trump fully appreciates the tenuous nature of his grip.

How Donald Trump Taught Conservatives to Defend Roy Moore

It has become a journalistic cliché to point out that Trump survives scandals and outrages that would sink other politicians. In Alabama itself, the Post reported on Friday, "Republican leaders mostly circled the wagons behind Moore." One Alabama Republican compared the relationship between Moore and the fourteen-year-old girl to that of Mary and Joseph, Jesus' parents. Many wonder how evangelical Christians, a core constituency for Moore in Alabama, will react. In the Trump era, Moore might have a chance at retaining support from these voters. "The answer is obvious: the advent of Donald Trump." To justify their support of Trump, evangelicals apparently reassessed the importance they place on a politician's personal morality.

Cory Booker Loves Donald Trump

as declared in And you cannot love your country if you don't love your countrymen and women," Booker told them. "I love Donald Trump," Booker said on CNN. "I can't tell you how many people told me, 'Cory Booker's going to be the first black president, Cory Booker's going to be the first black president,'" he told me. "Do you think President Trump needs a hug," I asked, "and are you the person to give it to him?"Booker laughed. "I think President Trump," he said, "needs a lot more than a hug."Michael Kruse is a senior staff writer for Politico.
