The election of Donald Trump will haunt Democrats until we prevail

Voters may think Trump is a horrible person and even worse president, but unless Democrats can unite the party, he will certainly win reelection. Donald Trump may be the loudest person in Washington, but he should not be the determining factor as to how Democrats move forward. A year after a devastating loss to Republicans, Democrats must do things differently. President Clinton was able to speak to middle America, black America, and everything in between. A year after the election of Donald Trump, the country needs a strong Democratic Party now more than ever.

Donald Trump 'tells Japanese emperor mass shootings can happen anywhere' — in country with no mass shootings

as mentioned in Donald Trump reportedly told the Emperor of Japan that mass shootings can occur "anywhere", despite the country having some of the world's most stringent gun control policies. When the emperor brought up Sunday's mass killing at a church in Texas, Mr Trump called it a "terrible incident" and said the killings "can happen anywhere", according to the Mainichi Shimbun. Mr Trump later said that it was the "worst call" he had had so far. Mr Trump was taking the comments out of context, as Mr Khan was simply saying that the police had everything under control. Relatedly, Mr Trump also claimed that it stopped raining in Washington at the moment he was inaugurated.

How Donald Trump Sank Ed Gillespie

Trump destroyed the Republican gubernatorial nominee, Ed Gillespie, by delivering hundreds of thousands votes to the Democrat, Ralph Northam. Going into the election, Democrats worried that Trump might bolster turnout for Gillespie, who seemed to be making a late surge as he echoed Trump's talking points. But in the end, Trump produced many more votes against Gillespie than for him. So the best election we can use for comparison is 2009—when Obama, like Trump, had been in office for nearly a year. On Tuesday, 47 percent of Virginia voters said they strongly disapproved of Trump.

Why Is Donald Trump Destroying the State Department?

The Foreign Service officer corps at State has lost 60 percent of its Career Ambassadors since January [the equivalent of a four-star general]. ….Not surprisingly, given the blocked entry path, interest in joining the Foreign Service is plummeting. What does it tell us, then, that we are on track to have fewer than half as many people take the Foreign Service Officer Test this year? Is it possible that Trump is destroying the State Department solely because it was once run by Hillary Clinton? Can the career diplomats at State really be so unhappy with Trump that they're actively obstructing his policies?
